Singalong Sundays: The Power of the Cross

This week’s featured hymn is one that focuses us on the atonement of Christ–Jesus Christ who is our propitiation and redemption:

For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person???though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die???but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.??(Romans 5:6-8 ESV)

In “The Power of the Cross”, this hymn interweaves the doctrines of propitiation and redemption. And so we see here a grand picture of the power of Jesus’ cross. Praise to God here is focused on the death, resurrection and future coming of Christ, beckoning believers to live in the power of the cross–now and forevermore.
